What's the point...

... in talking to someone who doesn't listen?

... of loving someone who can't accept it?

... of dreaming if you don't want to pay the price for it?

... in regressing?

... in fighting for the status quo when it is unsustainable?

... in supporting someone who doesn't want to grow?

... of being right at the cost of everyone who loves you?

... of playing a game where everyone loses?

Ultimate question is, will I allow myself to win?

Lose your filenames in explorer?

I think it sometimes happens when you hold Shift (sometimes unconsciously) and you double-click to open a folder. Whether it's the holding of the Shift to open it; or if, in holding Shift, it mass-selects and opens a bunch of folders; but your folder opens up without file names and folder names. It usually happens for your pictures, when in Filmstrip View or in Thumbnails View.

It's a real pain if you're anal about your filenames. So of course I got upset and Googled high and low about how to fix it. I eventually found a site called Tech Spikes which had the solution.

All you have to do it change View out of Thumbnails or Filmstrip, then change it back while holding Shift.

Nice and easy. After wasting time searching for how.

The art of regular flossing

Write it in your everyday 'to do' list. Works for me. It's like, "Hey I can complete a goal on my list in just a few minutes! Let's do it!"

Checkmark of victory. Wahey.

To think that it took me 8 months of telling myself to do it and not doing it, and then thinking that I should write it down as something to do every day and doing it.

Taking a look at the Wikipedia entry, I was surprised to see that flossing was invented circa 1815. Only around WW2 did it take its current form of nylon (by a scientist who was clearly contributing to the war). There's even an eco-friendly variant, it seems - but I've yet to see anything of the sort in shops here. What the hell would it be made of?

The decline of I

I am the messiah of knowledge, but I am being punished for my ignorance.

I am the champion of idealism, but am suffering the defeats of realism.

I want it all, but I hurt from wanting too much.

I dream still. They look different through tear-stained eyes. But I still dream.

Merdeka in Teluk Intan

I spent my Merdeka weekend at Teluk Intan (or Teluk Anson, as the locals still call it) courtesy of D's family on the maternal side.

The most unusual event of the weekend happened on the way there though - on the single-lane "highway" from Bidor to Teluk Intan, a band of Indian boys stopped us on the road.

To give us something.

A Malaysian flag. Which they promptly stuck onto my car and waved us goodbye, to cries of "Merdeka!"

That's Malaysia for you. I love the place.
